HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two men have been arrested in connection with a planned meet-up at a basketball court in Galena Park that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old back in late March, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

In a release sent on Friday, Angel Mendiola Ramirez and Kevin Jaimes, both in their early 20s, were arrested after the shooting at the Alvin D. Baggett Community Center on Keene Street on Sunday, March 29.

Officials said the shooting stemmed from a meet-up between the two suspects and other men. A fight then broke out once Ramirez, police said, opened fire, leading to the teen being shot.

The family identified the teen as Mario Sosa Ruiz, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ramirez and Jaimes were arrested a month later. Officials said Ramirez was charged with murder, and Jaimes is facing an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

As of Friday, both are in custody at the Harris County Jail.

Following the shooting, Galena Park officials implemented new safety measures, including 24/7 security monitor stations and a park curfew from 9:30 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Residents in the area tell ABC13 it is good for the youth in the community.

"I think they should keep the curfew here for now on. I think that's what the kids need," one resident said.
