Ray Thompson was initially charged with two counts of sexual assault in 2024 for encounters that prosecutors said happened in October 2022 and September 2023.
At the time the charges were filed, Constable Mark Herman told ABC13 that one of the alleged assaults happened during the time that Thompson was employed by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.
On April 1, 2025, the charges were dismissed. According to court records, the Harris County District Attorney's Office dropped the charges because "it could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt."
The DA's office noted that the case could be refiled.
At the time, prosecutors said Thompson was working an extra job at the Galleria, where he was accused of luring an 18-year-old girl to a hotel room where they said he gave her alcohol.
Constable Herman said they immediately pulled him off patrol and put him on dispatch. Herman added that Thompson reportedly didn't cooperate during their internal investigation and resigned shortly after.
Prosecutors said the second charge involved a mom who was walking her son to school. Thompson was accused of luring her to a hotel room.
