HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two people were detained Thursday morning after deputies carrying out a search warrant in southeast Houston found a suspicious device, according to Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen.
Rosen said authorities were executing a search warrant related to a child pornography investigation at a home on Gilpin St. Upon entering the home, he said deputies saw a suspicious device with a wick. Rosen said a person who occupies the home then told authorities to get out via a camera.
Law enforcement left the home and called the bomb squad, who arrived and took away the device.
Rosen said that one of the two people detained told law enforcement that they made the device - which Rosen described as resembling a pipe bomb, wrapped with foil, electrical tape and screws.
Investigators are now determining what the device is, if it is dangerous, and if additional charges will be warranted. Deputies are also resuming their execution of the search warrant in the home.
