HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Polls are now open for early voting for the May 26 primary runoff election.

Statewide, a high-profile race on the Republican side is the race for U.S. Senate. Incumbent Senator John Cornyn is facing off against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

A recent survey conducted by the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston shows Paxton ahead by a very narrow margin.

On the Democratic side, the runoff for Congressional District 18 is one folks are paying attention to.

Congressman Christian Menefee was just sworn in to represent the district in February.

Congressman Al Green, who has represented the ninth district for more than two decades, is now in District 18 under the newly redrawn congressional map.

Remember, if you voted in the March primary, you must vote in the runoff of the same party.

Early voting is going on Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22. Polls are open each day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
