The "Disney Blockbuster Summer" campaign is bringing Disney's biggest upcoming movies to life across theme parks, cruise ships, and retail stores.
The heart of the campaign rests on three movie releases hitting theaters over the next few months. First up is Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" on May 22, which brings the galaxy's favorite duo to the big screen for the first time.
Pixar follows on June 19 with "Toy Story 5," where Woody, Buzz, Jessie and their pals face off against a high-tech tablet named Lilypad. Finally, the live-action reimagining of "Moana" sails into theaters on July 10, starring Catherine Lagaaia alongside Dwayne Johnson, who returns as the demigod Maui.
Disney is also adding new fun to its theme parks to match the movie hype!
Walt Disney World in Florida will host "Cool KIDS' SUMMER" from May 26 to Sept. 8, featuring a "Muppets"-themed update to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.
In honor of America's 250th anniversary, a new adaptation of the popular Soarin' attraction, titled Soarin' Across America, will debut at Epcot on May 26 and at Disneyland Resort in California on July 2. The limited-time experience replaces the ride's usual footage with views of the American landscape.
Disneyland will also host its 70th anniversary "Kids Rule Summer" event running through August 9. Both resorts are offering special multi-day ticket discounts for families.
"Disney Blockbuster Summer" brings together the best of Disney storytelling and experiences, uniting our biggest films, destinations, streaming, and products into one unforgettable season," Asad Ayaz, chief marketing and brand officer for The Walt Disney Company, said in a statement.
To round out the summer releases, Disney is teaming up with brands for merchandise lines.
Walmart will serve as the main shopping hub for the season, selling special movie-themed popcorn buckets that come with Fandango theater tickets. Other summer releases include "Star Wars" and "Toy Story" footwear from Crocs, interactive action figures from Mattel and large LEGO Big Builds displays at movie premieres.
Families staying home can stream their favorites during Disney+ movie marathons, or dive into brand-new book releases like "Star Wars: The Mandalorian Visual Guide" and an official "Moana" cookbook from Disney Publishing.
According to Ayaz, this summer is all about giving families a choice in how they want to experience the magic!
"Whether you want to travel through hyperspace with the Mandalorian and Grogu at Disney Parks, stream a "Toy Story" movie marathon with friends and family on Disney+, or unlock the power of play with new "Moana"-inspired toys, there is something for everyone to live their best Disney summer."
