LAKE JACKSON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Lake Jackson Police Department says a one-time church employee is currently in the Brazoria County Jail without bond for allegedly committing multiple sex acts against children.

An official with the department says Adrian Gerard Johnson was employed at Destiny Church in Clute at the time of the incidents, but wouldn't confirm whether or not they were directly connected to his position.

An indictment against Johnson indicates he's been charged with 18 counts related to alleged sexual acts with children.

They include multiple accounts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual performance by a child, sexual assault of a child, and trafficking of a person.

The indictment shows Johnson has also been charged with single counts of compelling prostitution, indecency with a child by exposure, and bigamy.

The alleged acts, according to court records, took place from 2015 to 2020 and included three separate victims.

Two of those victims were under 14 years old, according to the indictment.

ABC13 spoke to one family who said Johnson was their youth pastor at Destiny Church when he allegedly sexually abused their daughter over a period of years. We are not identifying that family due to the nature of this case.

"The road has been hard," said the victim's mother. "I pray this allows her to have some healing so she can get the life she deserves."

The Lake Jackson Police Department is asking anyone who could be a victim in this case to please reach out to law enforcement.

ABC13 has reached out to Destiny Church, but we have yet to receive a reply at the time of this article's publishing.
