CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- Week 7 was filled with meaningful district matchups that should go a long way to determine district champions and playoff positioning.

ABC13 Game of the Week

Our ABC13 Game of the Week featured a battle of 16-6A district unbeatens with Cy Ranch at Waller.

Robert Carter ran for 193 of the Wallers' 511 total yards.

Sophomore quarterback TK Gaines was impressive, accounting for the remainder of the yards, including throwing for two touchdowns and running for a couple more scores. Bulldogs led this game at one point, 27-14 in the third quarter, but couldn't hold off the Cy Ranch attack led by junior quarterback Braden Baker. Baker threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 82 yards and a score. Baker also delivered the game-winner to Manny Leyja with 21 to play. 35-33 Cy Ranch won.

Play of the Week

The play of the week was turned in by Manvel junior wide receiver Carter St. Jounious. Cam Renfro delivered a perfect pass to the back of the Sam Rayburn defender, St. Jounios, who was able to hold onto the pass for the score. Mavericks are holding down the final playoff spot in 22-6a right now.

Memorial's overtime win

Memorial beat Cy Fair 37-31 in overtime to remain undefeated in 17-6a. Kade Gulledge ran for 164 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Grant Sperandio and Myles Goebel hooked up for a couple of cores. Defense was led by linebacker Isaac Richardson. Of the team's high 13 tackles in the game, Richardson had 12 solo stops, including stopping Cy Fair on 4th and 1 in overtime to turn the Bobcats over, which led to the game-winning touchdown.

Katy remains undefeated

Katy is 4-0 in 19-6a after a big win over Katy Taylor. Next, they'll face Jordan on Thursday, who are with Cinco Ranch 1 game back of the Tigers. The warriors, Mo Poco, helped lead Jordan to a 21-7 win over Seven Lakes with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

C.E. King's emotional victory

Thursday night was a big matchup in 23-6A between C.E. King and Summer Creek, both tied atop district standings with North Shore.

Some might be surprised King is playing the way they are, but Coach Cory Laxen has his Panthers believing in playing for each other and playing for their injured teammate, senior Bryce Lyons. Lyons suffered a horrific knee injury, the same injury that Tank Dell is recovering from. The injury happened during the Panthers' win the previous week. The day before the game, Lyons had his first surgery to repair his knee, so he was heavy on the hearts of his teammates.

King led 42-0 at halftime and held off the Bulldogs 42-28. The victory was great, but you could hear the emotion in running back Dionne Sims' voice after the game. Instead of wanting to talk about the win, he sent prayers to his injured teammate and to the father of Atascocita's Cardae Mack, who passed away a little over a week ago.
