BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Court records reveal new details about the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old suspect by a Brazoria County deputy.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Chase suspect killed by Brazoria County deputy after attempted traffic stop, sheriff's office says

ABC13 obtained the search warrant for the deputy's gun, which was signed on June 15 and describes the dash and body camera footage.

According to officials, now-former Brazoria County deputy Kevin Tippit used a Glock 9 mm to kill 18-year-old John Mendoza Junior on June 1 at Mendoza's home in Lake Jackson after a police pursuit.

This newly released search warrant reveals what happened before the shooting.

Mendoza's car was seen fishtailing on Tippit's dash camera, according to records.

When Tippit began following Mendoza, the warrant says he responded by accelerating, at one point reaching 120 miles per hour, and running six red lights.

The warrant states that Mendoza then pulled into his garage, and as the garage door began to close, Tippit followed him on foot.

According to the warrant, Tippit's body camera shows him approaching the front driver's seat, pulling his weapon, then firing the fatal shot.

An officer was reportedly heard radioing to dispatch: "32- accidental discharge."

The Texas Rangers, who are leading the investigation, said they are investigating Tippit for possible charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and aggravated assault by a public servant.

According to officials, part of their investigation will look into whether Tippit's gun was "properly functioning."

Tippit was fired on June 9 for what the sheriff described as policy violations about the handling and discharge of his gun.
