Coffee and camaraderie at Veteran Brew

HUMBLE, Texas (KTRK) -- Too often, two Marine veterans found themselves reuniting with members of their unit at funerals. Cesar Gil and Stephen Causey decided to change that and opened Veteran Brew in Humble, a place where fellow veterans could reconnect over coffee.

"We are really trying to build a community, we want to bring Veterans together and the local community together," Causey said.

Veteran Brew opened in 2025 and operates out of a shipping container on 5131 Atascocita Road in Humble. In addition to serving coffee, Gil and Causey told ABC13's Localish they also give back by sharing a percentage of their proceeds to local veteran foundations and organizations.

"We are very proud to say that we are not just about selling coffee and making a profit. We are here for a bigger mission. We want veterans to know they are not alone. That we are still here. That the cowboys are still around and that we just need to get together," Gil said.

In the video above, Causey and Gil share the important role coffee played during their service, and learn about their special Sovereign Blend.
