CLEVELAND, Texas (KTRK) -- A responding agency crash report obtained by ABC13 reveals new details about an Aug. 13 Cleveland ISD school bus crash.

Records state the 21-year-old driver told investigators he was "distracted" and drove off the road, where the bus hit an embankment, and traveled more than 240 feet before eventually coming to rest on its side. Police say speed may have also contributed to the crash.

According to the report, 57 students were on the bus at the time of the crash. ABC13 confirmed that the children are students at Southside Elementary School. Records state that 52 of the students were taken to the hospital.

The other five students were immediately released to their families. On Friday, the district said the bus driver involved in the Aug. 13 crash was no longer employed.

The bus was one of three Cleveland ISD buses to crash within the same week. It was one of two that crashed along the same stretch of FM 1010.

Two days earlier, on Aug. 11, a different CISD bus driver also crashed during morning school dropoff on FM 1010 with 59 students on board. Police now confirm that driver failed to drive in a single lane but wasn't cited in the crash.

ABC13 asked the district for that driver's employment status. They said that the driver is still employed.

Authorities said a third crash happened that week. CISD told ABC13 that a school bus and a vehicle collided on the same morning of Aug. 13 and said it was minor with eight children on board. They also confirmed that the school bus driver is still employed.
