Luck was back "home" at the Texas High School Coaches Association coaching school and convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
"Oh, it's great. I love it. First of all, the humidity hits you on the jet bridge when you get off the plane always," Luck said. "That'll never change."
Luck is back on campus at Stanford, where he earned national awards and recognition for his production, including Walter Camp Player of the Year in 2011.
He's a two-time Heisman Trophy award finalist, now starting his second season as the general manager for the football program.
"I act like a mini athletic director or team president just for football and oversee the program," Luck said. "I'm having an awesome time with it."
He's got a unique perspective being a college recruit, then player, now to the "front office" side of things at Stanford.
"I love the university. I love recruiting. I love fundraising. I just enjoy what I get to do," he said. "I get to be around the most amazing people in the world and try and win some football games."
He's around players from all over the U.S. in this role and sees Texas players are a little different than others in the nation.
"We have kids from just about every state represented in our locker room, great football players everywhere," he said. "But no state is as organized, I think, as Texas. And I don't think any state has football as deeply embedded in its cultural DNA as here. We're here at the Texas High School Coaches Association Convention, and they support coaches in the state, and we respect coaches in the state."
