GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans to homeport its newest ship in Galveston starting in 2028.

The Carnival Tropicale will make Galveston the home of two of Carnival's three newest vessels, joining the Carnival Jubilee, which was delivered in 2024.

The Carnival Tropicale will have capacity for about 6,000 guests and will sail year-round from Galveston, bringing an economic boost to the region and even more vacation options for local families.

"Texas is the right place to expand our fleet," said Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy. "We're building on a partnership in Galveston that's lasted for more than 25 years."

The Carnival Tropicale is set to offer voyages to the Caribbean beginning in 2028.
