HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Surveillance cameras captured the shocking moment a car slammed into a southeast Houston home on Sunday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident happened at 12206 Palmsprings Drive near Freeton Street at about 9:30 a.m.

Video from a neighbor's doorbell camera shows the car deviating off the roadway before flipping and slamming into a home.

At 9 a.m. on a Sunday, Eloisa Cavanauth is used to peace and quiet.

"I was in the kitchen fixing my so-called breakfast," Cavanauth said.

She said it was the startle of a lifetime when she heard a loud bang coming from the other end of the house.

"My kitchen, where you go out the door, was on fire. And it was a car, but I didn't know that. I thought a bomb had blown," Cavanauth said.

Cavanauth said the driver got out of the car on his own. He was coherent, but she recalls seeing blood coming from his head.

"I don't know his condition; all I know is that they rushed him to the hospital, but he was talking," Cavanauth said.

Houston police have not yet said if the driver was under the influence or if he'll face any charges.

Cavanauth hopes to get her home cleaned up, but most of all, she's just happy to be alive.

"I am still in shock, but it will be okay," Cavanauth said.

No immediate information on injuries has been released.
