BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- The officer under investigation for allegedly misusing data from Flock Safety's license plate reader system has resigned, according to the Baytown Police Department.
Police Chief John Stringer said the officer resigned from Baytown PD on Wednesday amid an internal affairs investigation and a separate criminal investigation into the matter.
Stringer added that despite the officer's resignation, the investigations remain active and will be worked to full completion.
The results of the internal affairs investigation will be reported to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, and the criminal investigation results will be reported to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Stringer said.
Stringer said his department was committed to transparency, but did not provide details on how the allegations came to light, the nature of the alleged misuse, or the officer's identity, citing the active investigation.
