Baytown police say Floyd Hadley, 73, was found in his house on the 1900 block of Chilton Drive Monday afternoon after firefighters were called out to a fire.
Police say they're still awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, but would treat it as a homicide unless evidence indicated otherwise.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said Clinton Hadley, 40, who relatives identify as Floyd's son, was arrested for threatening to set a building on fire the same day as the fire at his father's house.
The sheriff's office said Clinton Hadley went to a business in the Slidell area, about 30 miles from New Orleans, and threatened to burn the building down unless an employee gave him gas money.
They say he refused to leave after being asked and initially provided deputies with a false name.
Deputies also confirm that a hold was placed on Hadley from Harris County, but directed further questions to Baytown police.
Police haven't said if they've developed any suspects in the elder Hadley's death.
