TEXAS CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities said they are seeking the public's help in recovering law enforcement equipment that was stolen from a Galveston County Sheriff's Office vehicle in Texas City on Friday.

According to the Texas City Police Department, the GCSO vehicle was unmarked and was located at a Texas City residence when the vehicle burglary happened. Officials said a 300 Blackout AR equipped with a suppressor, a sheriff's office-issued ballistic vest, and a deputy's duty belt were all stolen from the vehicle.

Investigators said they have processed the vehicle and recovered multiple latent prints. The case is currently under investigation, officials said.

Both GCSO and Texas City PD are urging whoever has the stolen items to return them to officials immediately, adding that the items are "law enforcement-issued items and pose a significant threat to public safety if in the wrong hands."

Officials said a reward of up to $5,000 will be paid for credible information leading to the recovery of the stolen equipment or the arrest of those responsible.

Authorities said if you have information on who may be in possession of these items, please get in touch with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office at 409-766-2332 (select option 2) or the Texas City Police Department (409) 948-2525. Officials said you may also submit an anonymous tip online through Galveston County Crime Stoppers by visiting www.galveston.crimestoppersweb.com.
