Adrian Peterson takes on NFL over punishment

Tuesday, December 2, 2014
NEW YORK (KTRK) -- Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson squares off with the NFL today in a hearing over his punishment for child abuse.

Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge for disciplining his four-year-old son with a switch. He paid a fine and was ordered to perform community service.

The league suspended Peterson without pay for at least the remainder of the 2014 season, but Peterson argues he was told he could play once his legal case was resolved.

He also says the NFL's new sanctions for domestic abuse announced last August shouldn't have an effect on his offense, which happened last May.

Harold Henderson, a former NFL executive will hear Peterson's appeal.
