5-year-old child drowned in neighbor's pool in Cloverleaf area, Harris County Sheriff's Office says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 5-year-old child drowned in a neighbor's pool in the Cloverleaf area on Monday, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies responded to the 900 block of Nancy Rose Street around 12:20 p.m. in the 900 block of Nancy Rose Street on Monday. According to officials, the 5-year-old child reportedly left the house unattended.

HCSO said they began searching for the child using a drone. According to Gonzalez, the child's mother told law enforcement that her son has autism and is nonverbal, and he was seen only wearing a diaper.

Officials said the responding deputies found the child with the use of the drone, where he was unresponsive in a neighbor's pool. Upon arrival, deputies pulled the child from the water and administered CPR, HCSO said. The child was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

HCSO said that detectives and CSI are investigating the incident.
