HPD says that officers responded to the shooting in the 3500 block of Corder Street at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle in a ditch, where the victim, identified as 19-year-old Jose Acosta, and his 15-year-old brother were inside.
Police say that the 19-year-old sustained a gunshot wound and was later taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday. The victim's brother was not injured, according to police.
According to preliminary information, HPD says the two brothers were inside the vehicle when they were robbed at gunpoint by three suspects. Authorities say that Acosta tried to flee in the vehicle when the suspects began to shoot.
