18-wheeler believed to be carrying sulfuric acid on fire on South Loop and Gulf Freeway, HFD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- All lanes of the I-610 South Loop reopened overnight after an 18-wheeler caught fire near the Gulf Freeway Tuesday night.

The incident was sparked after 7 p.m.

According to HFD, the 18-wheeler was believed to be carrying sulfuric acid, but the tank did not rupture.

Officials say there are no injuries, and a shelter-in-place was not issued.

An investigation continues into what caused the 18-wheeler to go up in flames.
