HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 16-year-old shooting victim was taken to the hospital by a good Samaritan who happened to drive by and see him, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the 700 block of Colquitt Street near Stanford Street in Montrose at 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

When officers arrived, they said they found several shell casings and drugs, but no signs of anyone who had been hurt.

That's when, police said, the teen showed up at a nearby hospital.

Police said a good Samaritan who was driving down the street spotted the teen and stopped to check on him. When the good Samaritan found out the teen had been shot, they drove him to the hospital, HPD said.

At the hospital, personnel declared the teen critical, police said.

Investigators said the teen hasn't been able to give police any statements and that there is no suspect description.
