PREVIOUS REPORT: Man found shot dead outside southwest Houston convenience store, suspect missing, HPD says
According to the Houston Police Department, officers were called to the store in the 5400 block of Birdwood Road near Braesmont Drive at about 6:50 p.m. on June 21. When they arrived, officers said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot.
Officials said that Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene as well, where they pronounced the man dead. Authorities identified the victim as 28-year-old Ismail Ali.
Detectives said in June that they pulled surveillance video to see what led up to the shooting and saw that there was a fight that occurred moments before the shots were fired.
HPD said investigators identified the 16-year-old male as the suspect in the fatal shooting. Authorities said they arrested the suspect on Monday without incident.
Officials did not reveal the suspect's identity due to his age. The suspect was referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities on a charge of murder, according to HPD.
