HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after one man was shot and killed and another was hospitalized following a shooting in southwest Houston on Tuesday afternoon.

Houston police responded to the scene on Beechnut Street near the west Beltway.

Law enforcement believes the actual shooting took place about four blocks west on Beechnut.

Authorities say there were four people, including two men, one woman, and a baby girl inside the vehicle during the shooting.

ABC13 talked to the family of the victim, who was killed. His family says the victim worked as a security guard and provided for his child. The victim's mom told Eyewitness News that he was headed to get professional pictures done with his baby girl when the shooting happened.

The victim's white four-door sedan was riddled with bullet holes outside a Wells Fargo Bank in southwest Houston.

Police say the victim managed to drive to the Wells Fargo, where he died on the scene.

According to the victim's family, he was driving with his friend in the passenger seat and the 5-month old baby and a woman, who were in the backseat.

The victim's friend was shot and taken to a hospital, according to police.

Both the baby and the woman were unharmed.

Police did take the woman in for questioning, and she was then dropped back off at the scene.

ABC13 wasn't able to speak to the woman, but family says she shielded the baby as the shots started flying at the car.
