"The two males are in their late teens or maybe early 20s," HPD Lt. J.P. Horelica said. "One male was fatally shot, and another male was shot multiple times and transported to a local hospital in critical condition."
Horelica said the call for the shooting came in a little before midnight and took place in a parking lot in the 2300 block of Highway 6 near Westheimer Road.
"We had a bunch of individuals in this parking lot," Horelica said. "Somebody shot multiple rounds while they were in the parking lot."
Investigators say they don't have a reason at this time as to why the group was gathered in that location.
Horelica also said it's unknown where the shots came from.
"We're not sure yet if they came from a car driving by or someone in that parking lot," he said.
In addition to the two men who were shot, police say a nearby driver was injured by broken glass caused by a stray bullet.
"One of the bullets went through her windshield, and the glass caused her some injuries," Horelica explained. "She has been transported to a local hospital."
