Authorities responded to a home in the 23600 block of E. Heritage Oaks Drive in Porter on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

When they arrived, deputies learned that four family members from the home had been stabbed by another family member identified as Carlin. The family told authorities Carlin stabbed them during an argument. The victims were said to have received multiple injuries and puncture wounds as a result.

Authorities said the victims were a 61-year-old white female, a 38-year-old white female, a 23-year-old white female, and a 9-year-old white female. They were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The relationship between Carlin and the victims is not known.

By 9:30 p.m., a 911 call came into the sheriff's office from Carlin, saying that he was lost in the woods.

Units were able to track him down.

Because they didn't know if Carlin was armed, authorities say they made the decision to activate SWAT to move into the thick, dark woods to take Carlin into custody without incident.

He was wet from sweat and his legs and feet were scratched from being barefoot in the woods.

After being cleared by paramedics, Carlin was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

He faces at least four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possibly injury to children or the elderly.
