City leaders have said the undocumented immigrants benefiting from the program are hard working young people ready to give back to the country they have called home for many years.
"They're paying taxes they are also paying student loans (and more)," said Raed Gonzalez, Immigration lawyer in Houston.
While some Dreamers may have lost it all during Harvey, one died while trying to rescue people. Alonso Guillen, 31 years old, was in a boat when it capsized and it went under Cypress Creek. He's being called a hero and his family want President Trump to know his story.
"The humane thing to do is what President Trump has done and to phase it out over time and give congress time to act because then a court could end it one day then we'd really have a problem," said Paul Simpson, Harris County GOP Chairman.
