OAMARU, Australia (KTRK) -- Members of a blue penguin colony in Australia no longer have to look both ways before crossing they street -- they can pass beneath in their own dedicated tunnel.

Wildlife authorities at Oamaru's Blue Penguin Colony installed the small tunnel to keep both penguins and human visitors to the colony from blocking traffic on the roadway above.

The underpass opens into a common area at the Oamaru Harbour.

Blue penguins (Eudyptula minor) -- also known as little penguins -- are the world's smallest penguin species. They are found across Oceania.
