Pedestrian dies while trying to cross Southwest Fwy at Hillcroft

Tuesday, March 7, 2017
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Traffic is moving again on the Southwest Freeway after it was shut down when a pedestrian was hit and killed overnight.

The outbound lanes of Highway 59 at Hillcroft were closed to allow investigators to piece together what happened earlier this morning.

HPD says a person tried crossing the highway, but was struck by a Lexus.

An 18-wheeler and several other cars may have hit the body, but did not stop, Sgt. Larry Crowson tells Eyewitness News.

Crowson says the other drivers who may have hit the pedestrian may not have known they even hit a person.

It was not immediately clear why the pedestrian was on the freeway when they were struck.

The Lexus that slammed into the pedestrian did stop at the accident scene. It had severe windshield damage after the crash.
