Copart is holding an auto auction selling 5,000 vehicles at a fraction of their original cost.
The best part is they've inspected each car, and have separated out which ones flooded.
Here's a list of auctions in the Houston area this week:
Tuesday and Friday, 12 p.m.
Copart Auction
1655 Rankin Road
Houston, Texas 77073
Phone 281-214-7800

Wednesday, 12-4 p.m.
IAAI Houston
2535 West Mt. Houston Road
Houston, Texas 77038
Phone 281-847-4700
Note: Public vehicle preview every Tuesday from 12-4 p.m.
Of course, if you don't make it to the auction and you still need to look for a replacement car, here are some things to observe in avoiding a flooded "clunker."
- Musty odor in the interior: it can sometimes be covered with a strong air freshener
- Upholstery or carpeting that is loose, new, stained or doesn't match
- Rust around doors, under the dashboard, on the pedals, or inside the hood and trunk latches
- Fog or moisture beads in the interior lights or the instrument panel.
