CLEVELAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Parents who say their children were on the "purge list" at Tarkington Middle School asked we conceal their identity for the protection of their children.

One parent said, "Evidently there was a list made in class, other students saw it, what that student wanted to do to them." The parents say they are alarmed and some of their children are scared to go to class.

Another parent added, "It's very scary when your child comes home crying, it's a death threat. She's very scared to go to school."

Liberty County Precinct Five Constable David Hunter posted on Facebook, "There was a list with some disturbing issues about purging on it, however, there were no direct threats to any student." He told Eyewitness News on the phone the list had first names and a heading of "Time to Purge".

The parents say their children told them the list had specific ways they would purge but the constable said he had no knowledge of that. They add they want more details from the district who hasn't answered all their questions.

"We do need the information so we know how to protect our kids so we know how to handle it, it's going to help," said a parent.

Constable Hunter said they've stepped up security on campus. He also says they've been in touch with the parents of the student who made the list and they are seeking counseling for the child. The constable says there was no direct threat made to someone so charges will not be filed.
