PROST! How to celebrate Oktoberfest around town

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Prost!

It's the first day of fall and that means it's time for Oktoberfest, so dig deep into your closet and grab your lederhosen.

Several restaurants around town are celebrating, including King's Biergarten in Pearland and King's Bierhaus in The Heights.

Tickets for the event go on sale today.

You can enjoy authentic Oktoberfest food, a Bavarian Strongman Competition, and German music.

Cool Spaces Revised


Charivari Restaurant in Midtown is offering Oktoberfest specials including the traditional pork shank "Schweinshaxe" served with beer sauce, sauerkraut, and a bread dumpling for $25. A dish of weisswrust (sausage) and giant pretzel is also available for $12.

Mark your calendars for Oktoberfest Houston at the Water Works downtown on September 30. It's a celebration of German and Texas heritage complete with beer, polka music, and cowboy hats.
