It happened in the 16200 block of Lobo Lane around 4:30 p.m.
"Evidently, they received one of those notifications, were able to see this going on and that's when they contacted the Precinct 4 Constable's Office," HCSO investigator Chris Sandoval said.
He said a deputy arrived quickly and saw a white male in his 50s take off running into a nearby field. The deputy chased after him.
"He turns around and has a weapon in his hand. The deputy, fearing for his life, fires and discharges his weapon multiple times," Sandoval said.
After the suspect was shot, investigators said he got up and tried to run to his vehicle. That's when the deputy caught him and took him into custody.
Sandoval said the deputy administered live-saving care after the man was detained.
Aidan Zukiwsky lives a few houses over and heard the shots.
"I looked outside and they already had him handcuffed on the ground," he said.
Investigators said though the suspect pointed a weapon at the deputy, he didn't fire.
"The deputy did a good job. Thank God he wasn't injured in the process. He's okay," Sandoval said.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office and district attorney are investigating, which is standard for officer-involved shootings.
Now, the neighborhood hopes to return to the quiet they're used to.
"We've never had anything like this happen in this neighborhood, so it's quite a shock to the whole neighborhood," neighbor Perry Zukiwsky said.
