HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A police officer responding to a call was involved in a major crash in southwest Houston early Sunday.

Officials say the officer had his lights and sirens on while traveling eastbound on Bellaire near Belle Park when he slammed his cruiser into a pick-up truck.

It happened just after 5 a.m.

Both drivers lost control of their vehicles. The officer then hit a concrete wall before coming to a stop.

The officer and the driver of the pick-up were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are not known but the officer does not appear to be seriously hurt.
