The Houston Police Department said the crash happened at about 8:41 p.m. on Saturday at 5601 North Shepherd Drive.

Investigators said the child, who was about 10 to 15 years old, was walking from the east side of Shepherd Drive to a store on the west side.
The child made it through the northbound lanes but was struck by a vehicle when he got into the southbound lanes of Shepherd Drive.
Investigators said the driver had a green light, and the child wasn't walking in a crosswalk.
First responders pronounced the child dead at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, according to police.
The victim's identification has not been released, and charges have not been filed. Officers said it's difficult to identify the child because the child wasn't carrying any form of identification.
