Police say a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy hit a woman on Westheimer Road around 3 a.m. The woman died at the scene.
The woman was an African American female in her 40s. Police say she was wearing dark clothing and the deputy didn't see her. Deputy D Thomas is a 10-veteran.
Police say the deputy was not running to a scene.
Dash cam video has been sent to HPD.
