KINGWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- A movie theater in Kingwood was evacuated due to a potential bomb scare that turned out to be left over equipment from a gas company's recent work.

Around 8:30 p.m., employees did a routine check around the building and saw a device attached to a gas meter that had two wires sticking out, officials said. The manager decided to evacuate out of concern for a disgruntled employee, fired yesterday.

Houston police and fire departments, and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal were called to the ShowBiz Cinemas on Northpark Drive to investigate. Texas DPS was involved in the investigation as well.

The evacuation ended around 9:15 p.m. when police say they discovered the device that caused the scare was leftover equipment from a recent job by the gas company.

People are beginning to be let back into the area.
