HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A family's front porch bench was stolen by a man caught on surveillance video. He's suspected of targeting other homes nearby during incidents that happened in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving.

Mary Chamberlain said her husband noticed the bench was gone from their home on the 13000 block of Kimberley Lane near Memorial. They checked their surveillance system to see when it disappeared, and were shocked to learn it happened around 5am on Thanksgiving.

"I thought we were being pranked," Chamberlain said.

The family realized they don't recognize the man involved. Police came to take a report and agreed the theft was unusual, the family said.

Neighbors have also come forward, claiming similar lawn furniture items have been taken.

Chamberlain said it's not the value of the bench, but the violation that someone would brazenly approach their home to steal from them.

Anyone with information is asked to call HPD.
