HUNTSVILLE, AL (KTRK) -- A "Grinch" is being blamed for destroying a Christmas parade float in Alabama.

WHNT reported that float was created by a local animal shelter to resemble a 'Whoville' house from the Dr. Seuss classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".

The group was towing the float to the parade when someone in another car flicked a cigarette into it.

"Somebody flicked a cigarette out and it landed in the straw on our float and burned it to the ground," said the creator of the group, Jeananne Jackson. "My husband was driving and I was driving behind him when I noticed the smoke, and other people did too. Luckily, several people came and helped us unload some of the stuff. We were able to salvage some of it, but the house we worked so hard on, that we were so proud of went up in smoke."

The float quickly went up in flames and luckily, no one was hurt in the fire.

The group managed to decorate a second trailer with whatever they saved and participated in the parade.

It's unclear whether police are searching for the cigarette-flicking "Grinch".
