If you've been dragging your feet, you can still get in for free help on your taxes from IRS-certified preparers at Neighborhood Tax Centers.
If you make less than $58,000 a year, you can avoid the fees you'd pay a professional to do your taxes, but you have to get in the doors soon or you will miss your chance.

Here's what you need to file your taxes:
- Photo ID, Social Security cards or ITIN letters for everyone on the tax return
- Proof of income (W2, 1099, etc.)
- 1095 form: Health coverage statement
- Check with bank account and routing number for direct deposit of your refund
This year, the United Way of Greater Houston is teaming up with Neighborhood Tax Centers to offer families access to SAVE, a matched savings account program that allows you to set aside part or all of your tax refund and receive a 25 percent match from the United Way.
Jose Perez, director of the Neighborhood Centers Program, said these free services are intended to help families become more financially stable.
Perez said he hopes people will take advantage of the service so they can use those refunds to pay for basic needs like school expenses or for savings.

Last year, the center helped file the taxes of more than 35,000 households, bringing back more than $50 million in refunds.
Since 2009, they have done more than 251,000 tax returns and had more than $339 million returned to Houston families.
