HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A pedestrian was rescued from a manhole in downtown Houston after heavy storms moved through the area on Wednesday morning.

The rescue happened on the sidewalk near the intersection of Franklin and San Jacinto.

ABC13 arrived on the scene moments after medics and firefighters freed the man and loaded him into an ambulance.

"The man was saying he can't move, so we called the ambulance," an eyewitness said.

According to the witness, the man was walking down the street when he fell in.

It's not clear if heavy rains forced the manhole cover to pop off.
