COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KTRK) -- Texas A&M may be getting a new coach today and paying a staggering amount of money to get him.

Jimbo Fisher is rumored to be the next head coach in "Aggieland." The Texas A&M Board of Regents will meet this afternoon to discuss the possible hiring of the current Florida State Seminoles coach.

A short bio on Jimbo Fisher

If all goes according to plan, Fisher will be the head coach at Texas A&M by the end of the day.

Fisher would replace Kevin Sumlin, who was let go because he did not win enough games.

That decision is pricey for the Aggies. Sumlin had two years left on his contract and will walk away with a $10 million buyout.

As for Fisher, he makes $5.7 million a year, and he's expected to make even more at Texas A&M.

This week, things got a little uncomfortable in Tallahassee when a fan asked Fisher about loyalty during a radio show.

"It's been kind of a tough season," said a Florida State fan who confronted Fisher on the show. "And I remember watching a lot of your press conferences and how you would talk about we needed to be committed to the program and keep cheering for the team. And we need to be talking about that, about loyalty to the program. So I am wondering, where's the loyalty to the program Jimbo?"

That fan got the microphone ripped from his hand and escorted out of the building while Fisher remained silent, if not, a little red faced.

Texas A&M made Sumlin the 10th highest paid coach in college football. It's no telling where Fisher will land on that list, but we do know the rumor of his being hired has already costs FSU three recruits from its upcoming class.
