It happened at about 4 p.m. in the 4600 block of N. Braeswood Boulevard and the South Loop.
Details were limited early on in the investigation, but officials said at least one car was involved.
According to police, an officer came upon the wreckage and asked for additional units and medical help.
It was confirmed later there was at least one person who died.
SkyEye was over the scene and spotted several officers surrounding the area and one vehicle flipped over.
