The wreck happened at about 8:47 a.m. At one point, at about 11 a.m., one lane of traffic was getting through while the rest of the freeway southbound at Market Street remained closed.
According to Houston TranStar, the crash cleared just before 1 p.m.
Video from the scene shows multiple first responders and hazmat crews responding as a tanker truck overturned and released propane gas.
It wasn't immediately known how the crash occurred, but ABC13 learned no one was hurt.
The wreck meant a messy commute for drivers who were sitting behind the crash for just over two hours until that one lane opened.
