HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is in custody after Houston police officers said they suffered some sort of chemical exposure while responding to a bank robbery.

It all happened Thursday at the Chase bank in the 10400 block of Westheimer Road just past the Sam Houston Tollway.

Police say a witness told them a man passed a note to a teller, claiming he had a bomb and showed a gun. When officers in the area responded to the scene, they said a chase and struggle in the parking lot took place.

That's when officers said they believe there was a chemical on the suspect, but moments later the scene was cleared. According to HPD, one officer complained of shortness of breath and was taken to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

The suspect was arrested and was reportedly wanted on other charges including arson.
