Despite his diagnosis, officer Robert Ramon did not let that stop him from rescuing people during Hurricane Harvey.
"I wanted to go out there and help. I could not sit back in the office," said Ramón. "I needed to go out there and be apart of the team."
Ramón travels to Oklahoma for chemotherapy every two weeks.
To help offset the cost of travel for his treatment, Ramón's fellow officers are hosting the auction and fish fry to help their colleague.

"Just to prove it, during Hurricane Harvey the guy showed up everyday, never complained and helped HPD Lake Patrol rescue a lot of people," Sgt. Epi Garza said.
Ramón says working keeps his mind off the diagnoses, and that the generosity from his community and his coworkers has him at a loss for words.
"I don't even know what to say, just look at all this, golly I am just shocked and amazed," Ramón said.
The fundraiser will be held Friday at 1600 Sate Street from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
