Houston police officer arrested on possession of controlled substance

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

According to court documents, officers discovered methamphetamine inside the apartment of James Norman during a search warrant on his roommate.

He was arrested on April 4 and bonded out of jail four days later.

During the investigation, Norman admitted to knowing about the drugs and using meth inside his apartment.

Norman had been assigned to HPD's South Gessner patrol division since Jan. 2013.

He has been relieved of duty pending an internal affairs investigation.
