HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- About 16 families have been displaced after a large fire ripped through their apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

When SkyEye arrived at the fire, the roof of the apartment complex was seen engulfed in the flames. It's unclear what sparked the fire, but a total of 16 units were damaged in the blaze.

A woman told ABC13 she wasn't aware of the fire until her brother called her.

"I was coming in, and I heard the fire trucks. Me and my family, we started walking around, and we came around, and it look like it was her (sister's) apartment. So I jumped out and was calling her name," the woman's brother recalled.

While the Houston Fire Department said no firefighters or civilians were injured, one firefighter was treated for dehydration.
