Texas-shaped lazy river officially opens downtown

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Visitors to a newly opened downtown hotel can float around the entire state of Texas in mere minutes -- in the hotel's Texas-shaped lazy river.

The hotly anticipated pool is now officially open atop the Marriott Marquis, which celebrated its official grand opening ceremony on Thursday.

Perched 100 feet above the street below, the 530-foot lazy river is filled with 140,000 gallons of water. It will take swimmers approximately 15 minutes to complete one leisurely float around the Lone Star State.

The terrace also includes an infinity pool that overlooks Discovery Green.
