According to police, the officer then opened fire and shot the suspect just before 1 p.m. at the Shell in the 17300 block of the Northwest Freeway.
The officers were responding to reports of a stolen vehicle in the area before one of them approached the driver in front of the store.
The suspect was flown by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann in downtown Houston. That person was in stable condition.
The officer was treated at the scene and released.
The officer has since been placed on administrative leave. The Texas Rangers and Jersey Village police's Internal Affairs are investigating.
