At the scene, officers found a vehicle stalled in the street with several bullet holes in the driver's side door. Inside, a 32-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to HPD, the victim was in the intersection when another man got out of a black sedan with a rifle and opened fire.
"It kind of looks like it was targeted to me, but we won't know for sure until our investigators get here and start talking to the witnesses," Lt. Larry Crowson said.
Witnesses told HPD the sedan sped away after the shots were fired.
A nurse told ABC13 he heard the gunshots and saw the victim in his car.
"I got out of the car because I saw that he wasn't moving. It was locked at first, actually. So some other guy came out with a tool and broke the window, opened the door," Victor Moreno said. "I checked his pulse, and no pulse."
